Michigan Is Building Something Here.

The transformation at Selfridge is creating opportunity across Southeast Michigan on two fronts: for the businesses and industries that will help build and support it, and for the people who will serve in it. Whether you represent a Michigan company looking to participate in what's ahead, or you're an individual asking what a life of service could mean for you — this is the place to start.

FOR MICHIGAN BUSINESS & INDUSTRY

The modernization of Selfridge is one of the largest infrastructure investments in Macomb County's recent history — and it is creating demand for Michigan-based businesses across a wide range of sectors. Construction and general contracting. Engineering and design. Logistics and supply chain. Technology and communications. Environmental services. Skilled trades. If your business operates in any of these areas, the opportunities connected to Selfridge's expansion are worth your attention. Macomb County is convening regular Industry Day events to connect Michigan businesses with the information and relationships they need to participate. These are the starting point for any company that wants to understand what is ahead and position itself accordingly.

FOR FUTURE AIRMEN

The Michigan Air National Guard is building the team that will fly and maintain the aircraft coming to Selfridge. These are not distant opportunities — they are being filled right now, by people from this region, with skills that are in demand. A career in the Guard means real training on advanced systems. It means serving your state and your country without leaving the community you call home. It means a paycheck, education benefits, healthcare, and a retirement — alongside a civilian life, a civilian career, and the family you are building. The Airmen who join the 127th Wing today will be among the first generation to operate and maintain Michigan's next-generation aircraft. If you have ever thought about what it would mean to serve — this is the moment to find out.

Industry Day Presentations

Michigan military and government leaders met with more than 300 business representatives at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, April 27, 2026, highlighting opportunities, timelines and the processes that will be utilized over the next several years at the base. The event, dubbed “Infrastructure Day,” and led by Macomb County’s Planning and Economic Development Department, brought together government, military and private-sector partners to educate companies on how to pursue work tied to an estimated $1 billion Air Force investment planned for Selfridge over the next five years. The investment will upgrade infrastructure and facilities in support of the 127th Wing’s transition from the A-10 Thunderbolt II and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft missions to the F-15EX Eagle II and KC-46 Pegasus platforms.

Environmental Impact Statement

Basing KC-46 Pegasus Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base EIS Website

To help the public understand the potential effects of transitioning from the KC‑135 Stratotanker to the KC‑46A Pegasus, the Air National Guard will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This comprehensive review will evaluate the possible environmental impacts—both positive and negative—associated with bringing the KC‑46A to Selfridge Air National Guard Base and its surrounding communities.
